Director of ARCC Services
Position Purpose
To advance the mission of Hill Country Christian School by ensuring that every Hill Country student enrolled can flourish within our rigorous classical Christian environment through the Academic Resource and Counseling Center (ARCC).

OVERVIEW
The Director of ARCC Services is a pivotal leadership position dedicated to ensuring student success at Hill Country Christian School, bridging the gap between high academic standards and individualized support, managing a multidisciplinary team to provide academic support for students from Pre-K through 12th grade. By overseeing both academic interventions and our on-site counseling services, you ensure our educational mission remains accessible and transformative for all learners, including those with mild to moderate learning differences.
SKILLS
- Specialized Certification: Certification in Orton-Gillingham, Take Flight, or similar dyslexia therapy programs. (preferred but not required)
- Environment: Prior experience in a K-12 classical Christian or independent private school setting preferred.
- Clinical Skills: Experience coordinating student support and counseling services in a K-12 environment
- Mental Health: Experience working with students, providing spiritual and emotional support.
Qualifications
- Must be a Christ-follower who upholds, in word and deed, the Hill Country Christian School of Austin’s Core Values and Statement of Faith.
- Must faithfully attend a church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith of this school.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, School Counseling, or a related field required, MA preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in educational leadership or specialized academic support.
- Special Education Background: Deep understanding of learning differences, neuropsychological assessments, and IEPs & Section 504/ADA requirements (classroom or administrative experience).
Key Results Areas: The Director of ARCC services will advance the mission of ARCC by:
- Program Leadership & Administration
- Provide strategic direction and vision for the ARCC to ensure all services align with the school’s classical Christian mission and educational philosophy.
- Supervise a diverse team of ARCC specialists, academic support teachers, and the school counselor across all grade divisions by providing guidance while encouraging professional autonomy and independent decision-making.
- Collaborate with the Dean of Academics to set ARCC goals, manage department policies, promote vertical alignment, and ensure compliance of teachers with our accommodations and policies.
- Manages and organizes student support committees/ARCC parent conferences for all departments and grade levels.
Student Support & Oversight
- Oversee all ARCC students’ accommodations and support services, including academic plans based on provided diagnostic paperwork across all grade levels.
- Manage the referral and intake process and interpret neuropsychological and educational evaluations to determine appropriate support levels.
- Lead team meetings to design and monitor tailored accommodation plans (Level I and II), ensuring consistency and classroom implementation.
- Create and supervise specialized interventions, including reading, math, and executive functioning programs.
- Assist the school counselor in social-emotional counseling services, behavioral support, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention protocols.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the school, external psychologists, and school districts for coordination of evaluations, reports, and testing documentation.
Family & Faculty Partnership
- Act as the primary liaison between families currently enrolled in ARCC Services and the school by conducting all ARCC family meetings and annual progress reviews for each active or potential student enrolled in ARCC Services.
- Train classroom teachers on best practices for learning differences and the effective implementation of classroom accommodations.
- Design and deliver professional development for faculty and staff related to learning differences, executive functioning, interventions, and inclusive education.
- Ensure consistent and compassionate communication between teachers, families, and ARCC staff regarding support plans and progress.
Financial & Operational Management
- Prepare and oversee the ARCC budget, including the management of fee-based service revenue and resource allocation in partnership with the Chief Financial Officer.
- Partner with the business office to manage billing for supplemental services and evaluate program financial sustainability.
- Analyze student progress data and enrollment trends to drive continuous program improvement and strategic expansion.
